About Danielle

A little about Danielle

After graduating from Stonington High School, Danielle attended Clemson University and then went on to graduate school at UCONN. Before serving as Stonington First Selectman, she worked with the United Nations for over eight years helping companies and financial markets operate more transparently and sustainably. Danielle served as an elected official on Stonington’s Board of Finance through two budget cycles and also served four years on the Economic Development Commission. Danielle’s husband Sam is a small-business owner and they have three children. Danielle’s mother and Sam’s parents also live in Stonington.

Danielle remains unaffiliated, running as part of the new Forward party movement, because she believes in their vision to create a political home for anyone willing to work together, in good faith, to find practical ways to make our communities better. Like many of you, she believes coming together and engaging those with different perspectives in a respectful dialogue is the best way to address the complex challenges before us.

Why support Danielle?

  • Well-rounded experience, energy and commitment to the role of First Selectman.

  • Accomplished incumbent, with four years of on-the-job experience.

  • Consensus builder, with a leadership style that works to bring out the best in people.

  • Strong relationships at the local, regional, state & federal level. She serves as Chair of the Southeastern Council of Government, and on various additional state-wide Boards.

  • Proven experience crafting municipal budgets that balance short- and long- term needs in our community, while keeping our tax rate one of the lowest in our region.  She understands the importance of balancing fiscal prudence with investing for the future.

  • Secure over $6 million in grants for a diverse range of town projects, helping to address local issues without burdening low tax payers and has maintained our AAA bond rating.

  • Engages those with different perspectives, creates opportunities for collaborations and builds partnerships to create actionable plans to deliver results.

  • Uniquely positioned to lead Stonington toward a sustainable future for generations to come.

Danielle would be honored to have the opportunity to continue to serve the community as Stonington's First Selectman.
